If you are serious about making a profit in your business then you need to be passionate about your business.
There are two types of passion that can drive a business to success;
- Passion about making money
- Passion about doing something you love
Passion about making money is a game, which can have little meaning apart from accumulating numbers. Also, chasing just money may find you stuck in a job that you hate.
Passion about doing something you love transcends chasing numbers, because you take pride in and get satisfaction from selling your products or services.
And the irony is that passion about doing something you love greatly increases your chance of making money anyway.
Really passionate businesspeople;
Believe
Believe in their products and produce quality products that meet the customers' needs. They also have a self-belief that what they are doing is worthwhile and it has value beyond just a 'transaction.'
Enjoy
Enjoy what they are doing. They find it is a pleasure to engage with people and sell products of which they are proud. This enjoyment reveals their passion, which is infectious and helps establish a positive experience for the customer.
Act
Act in a way they would like to be treated as a customer. For example they act in a professional, friendly and helpful way that makes customers appreciate the attention given to them.
When you put passion before profit you will become profitable in both meaning and money terms.
