Sales T.A.P.

One of the most important skills needed for a profitable business is your ability to ask your customers one or more of the following questions; What - Why - Who - How - When - Where?

How many of these questions you ask will depend on the situation, your product or the service you have to offer.

But before you ask any of these questions, make sure you turn on the T.A.P.

Timing

Determine when is the right time to ask your customer a particular question. For example if you are selling a car and you are closing the sale, you can ask the obvious question 'Would you like to buy this car?' Asking this question too early will send people out of your door! Poor timing when asking question/s in business equals poor sales.

Appropriate

Make sure the questions you ask are appropriate. If you are sensitive to your customers' needs you'll ask appropriate questions. Inappropriate questions in business tend to be personal, which can upset customers. So stick to the business you know and leave the funny business to comedians.

Pace

Pace your questions so your customer doesn't feel like he is being interrogated. Give him time to answer each question so you can find out what he wants. Pacing also gives you time to consider carefully what you need to ask next.

Turn on the sales T.A.P. and your sales will flow!

After drafting a will for an elderly client, the lawyer announced a fee of $100. The client gave the lawyer a $100 bill.

After the client left, the lawyer saw that the client had in fact paid $200, as two $100 bills had stuck together.

Looking at the $100 overpayment, an ethical question arose in the lawyer's mind: "Do I tell my partner?"
