Day to day stresses, challenges or problems can certainly take their toll. But if an overall climate of negativity creeps in, it will damage energy, motivation, and relationships.

P.O.P. Culture
Man with Whiteboard saying POP Culture by Chris Bennett

Many people regard pop culture as superficial and a meaningless diversion from real life.

However there is another pop culture that can make the difference between success and failure in business.

And that is the Power Of Positive culture in your workplace.

P.O.P. culture in your business leads to satisfied employees, more customers and more money for your business.

How can you achieve a P.O.P. culture in your business?

C = Consider
Consider the culture prevailing in your business right now. Is it positive – a truly P.O.P. culture – or is it infected with negativity? If you can see areas that need attention to put a P.O.P. culture in place, consider what actions you can take to create an appropriate P.O.P. culture for your business.

U = Understand
Understanding your staff and customers as people and not just as units or numbers will help you develop the P.O.P. culture that will lead to a profitable business.

L = Listen
Listen to your staff and customers. Really listen, don't just hear what they are saying while thinking of how you can respond! Good listening skills are essential for success.

T = Trust
Trust your staff and customers through actions and not just words. You will gain more co-operation and respect which leads to greater profits.

U = Utilise
Utilise your staff so they can get on with the job. You can do this by providing support but not micro managing every job in the business. This will help staff feel valued and encourage them to contribute fully as a member of your team.

R = Reward
Reward your staff so they are motivated to perform at their best. Reward your customers so they keep coming back. You can do this by creating a system of rewards. For example financial rewards, discounts, time off, extra service etc.

E = Enthusiasm
Your P.O.P. culture will only work if you are enthusiastic and lead by example. Remember, as a business owner every word you utter, every action you take is being assessed by staff and customers. If you yourself remain positive in keeping with a true P.O.P. culture, then your business will thrive.

A pop culture in the community develops over time and so does a P.O.P. culture in the workplace.

Invest the time and effort in creating and sustaining a P.O.P. culture and you will be around a lot longer than many other pop cultures.
