Do You Have The Time?
Man with Clock
Dear

Do you ever find yourself wishing for a few more hours in each day or a few more days each week?

You are not alone!

Most of us in business these days struggle to get everything done in the limited time we seem to have.

As Peter F. Drucker once said: Time is the scarcest resource, and unless it is managed nothing else can be managed.

In this issue of BJ Biz Buzz News, you'll find a range of websites, ideas, tips and resources for managing this "scarcest resource".

We hope you will find them interesting and useful.

Cheers

Time is one resource that you can't afford to waste, especially in business.

These are four tips on how you can manage your time effectively and make even more money.

1. Overcome Procrastinating

The Broadcast Method

If you are procrastinating on a particular job then tell other people you are going to do it. This creates a bit of pressure to complete the task because if you don't you will embarrass yourself by creating the impression that you are all talk and no action.

Get someone to monitor you and ask 'have you completed the job yet.' A further incentive to get the job done.

Break It Down

Break the task into smaller bits so it becomes more manageable. Alarm Clock

Three Minutes

Set an alarm clock for 3 minutes only. Start the task and press the start button of your clock so it ticks down. When the alarm buzzes, stop and then decide if you want to continue. This takes the pressure off when you are faced with major tasks and you just can't get started.

2. Set Realistic goals

The goals should include the following elements

  • Bee specific (what exactly are you trying to achieve)
  • Bee motivated (ask yourself 'why am I trying to achieve this goal')
  • Bee skilled (find out what skills do I need)
  • Bee Lines (have deadlines, when will you start and finish)
  • Bee Rewarded (when you achieve your goal, reward yourself)

3. Prioritise Your Jobs

Try the ABC method. A for major jobs, B for important jobs and C for the small jobs. Also make sure you re-prioritise your jobs when necessary.

4. Action Plans

Action plans can be created on paper or through a computer program. The following action plans are necessary for success.

  1. Daily Plan

  2. Weekly Plan Woman Smiling

  3. Monthly Plan

  4. Year Planner

These four techniques are a sample of what we offer in our time management component of our customised packages for small business.

Use these four time management techniques and you will be able to manage your time more effectively.

And make your business grow.
